Richard R. Boyce
Richard Ray Boyce, age 81, of Marine, IL., died Monday, May 4, 2009, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL.
He was born November 9, 1927, in Highland, IL., the son of Clarence and Edna (Clayton) Boyce.
On July 9, 1947, he married Lydia A. Boyce nee Gillespie, who passed away February 13, 1997.
Richard was born at Highland and grew up in Pocahontas. He graduated Pocahontas High School in 1945 and entered the US Army Air Corps from 1945-1947, with duty at Kesler Field, Miss. in the Base Band. Worked at Stratman Lumber Co. in Pocahontas after the war and started with IL Terminal Railroad as a Telegrapher in 1948. He became Dispatcher and retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad after 42 years. He also worked for Eberhard Heating & Cooling and then started Boyce Heating & Cooling in Marine for a number of years while working at the railroad. To Richard reading was a passion, he enjoyed watching movies, always had a large garden, liked to travel by car, and loved his pet dogs.
He was a member of Edwardsville Municiple Band (Tuba Player); Former Marine Township Supervisor; Former Justice of the Peace for Marine Township.

He was preceeded in death by Father-Clarence W. Boyce, Sr., Mother-Edna R. Boyce nee Clayton, Wife-Lydia A. Boyce nee Gillespie, died 2/13/97, Son-David W. Boyce, died 8/17/65, Brother-Clarence W. Boyce, Jr., died at age 3, Brother-Robert W. Boyce,Infant Granddaughter Jessica Ann Semanisin, died in 1983.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL., with Rev. Philip H. Kershner, Pastor of the United Church of Christ of Marine
Marine, Illinois officiating.
Interment will be at Robinson Cemetery in Pocahontas, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels; Operation Smile or St. Jude\\\\\\\'s Hospital.
