Kenneth R. Stuckwisch
Kenneth Raymond Stuckwisch, age 83, of Highland, IL., died Monday, October 6, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL.
He was born May 6, 1925, in Highland, IL., the son of Raymond and Edna (Deibert) Stuckwisch.
On May 23, 1948, he married Gloria L. (nee Schmidt) Stuckwisch , who survives.
Mr. Stuckwisch was born at Highland and graduated Highland High School in 1943. He served with the US Army Air Corp (43-46) as a pilot flying P47 Thunder Bolt, he was discharged as a Pilot Flight Officer. He taught flying at Highland Winet Airport; worked at Quality Motors; and owned and operated the Dent Shop. In 1951 he became a claims adviser for insurance companies. In 1959 he moved to Arizona; 1962 he went to work for State Farm Insurance; 1966 he returned to Highland and continued working with State Farm before retiring in 1986.
He had a great love for animals, he enjoyed photography, camping, gun smithing, and helping teach Sunday School. He was a Meals on Wheels Driver, a skilled craftsman in wood products (furniture and movable toys for family).
He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ (50 yr member). He was also a member of Lee Item Post 439, American Legion; Highland Masonic Lodge 583 AF & AM (over 50 yrs); AARP; Helvetia Sharpshooters Society; Former NRA; Highland Saddle Club (Past President); Grant Prarie 4-H Horsemanship Leader (4 yrs); International Assoc. of Arson Investigators.
Survivors include Wife-Gloria L. (nee Schmidt) Stuckwisch of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Sheila A. (Thomas) Dunn of Troy, Ill., Daughter-Becky R. (Mark) Foellmer of Plainfield, Ill., Daughter-Dawn D. (Larry) Bruno of Greenville, Ill., Grandchild-Ryan Thomas Dunn, Grandchild-Michael David Foellmer, Grandchild-Brock Daniel Foellmer, Grandchild-Jared Scott Bruno, Grandchild-Sarah Nicole Bruno, Niece-Jody A. (Lewis) Lux of Highland, Ill., Niece-Cathy (Dale) Von Bokel, Nephew-Kyle (Brenda) Stuckwisch, Godchild-Dr. David (Diane) Wells, Godchild-Dr. James Wells
He was preceeded in death by Father-Raymond R. Stuckwisch, Mother-Edna M. Stuckwisch, nee Deibert, Brother-Darwin D. Stuckwisch, died 10/1/90, Sister In-law-Patricia Stuckwisch, Niece-Janie Dittrich, Godchild-Patricia Stanish
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.Service InformationVisitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 9, 2008, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, October 10, 2008. , at Evangelical United Church of Christ
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 10, 2008, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL., with Rev. Cherie Hambleton officiating.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Masonic Lodge 583 AF & AM, St. Joseph Hospital, or Evangelical UCC.
