Howard L. Simmons
Howard L. Simmons, age 73, of Marine, IL., died Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born November 18, 1934, in Litchfield, IL., the son of Lester and Eva (Webb) Simmons.
On November 20, 1954, he married Lois R. Simmons, nee Painter, who survives.
Mr. Simmons was born at Litchfield, IL; graudated Litchfield High School. He worked in St. Louis at Coca Cola, later sold Prudential Insurance. He worked for Granite City Steel for 32 years in Yard Maintenance as Supervisor, and retired in 1994; in his retirement he worked part-time for the Village of Marine. He was Santa Claus for Marine Grade School and Village of Marine at Christmas. He and his wife enjoyed R.V. camping with their children and spending time with family and friends. He was in the US Navy Reserves for 7 years.
He was also a member of Marine Sportsmen's Club (currently Vice President), Board of Directors - Marine Cemetery Assoc., former member of Marine Lion's Club, former member Village of Marine Board member.

(Karen) Simmons of Highland, Ill., Son-Daniel L. (Paula) Simmons of Saint Jacob, Ill., Son-Darren R. (Kristie) Simmons of Marine, Ill., Sister-Judy Gage of Litchfield, Ill., Grandchild-Shana G. Uhe of Tampa, Fla., Grandchild-Chrystal L. Uhe of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Morgan R. (Brent) Phelps of Hamel, Ill., Grandchild-Brian M. Simmons of Saint Jacob, Ill., Grandchild-Kevin H. Frey of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Jenna L. Uhe of Alhambra, Ill., Grandchild-Dustin H. Simmons of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Tad D. Simmons of Saint Jacob, Ill., Grandchild-Kristy M. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, August 8, 2008, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Marine, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Marine, IL., with Pastor Sigurd Bjorklund, St. Luke\'s United Methodist Church, Maryville, IL, officiating.
Interment will be at Marine Cemetery in Marine, Ill.
