A. Maxine Nihiser Oberdalhoff
Alice Maxine Nihiser Oberdalhoff, nee Rich age 88, of Highland, IL., died Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Faith Countryside Homes-Faith Care Center in Highland, IL.
She was born September 2, 1919, the daughter of George and Ellen (Ginger) Rich.
Mrs. Oberdalhoff was born at Cowden/Herrick area, Fayette County, IL - then lived in the Brownstown, IL area; lived and worked in Decatur and did housework, as well as, attending beauty operator school; lived some time in Mulberry Grove, IL; moved to Pocahontas in 1949 and then to Highland in 1954. Owner/operator of Maxine Beauty Shoppe of Highland, until Sept. of 2006. She loved her family, enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching the birds and rabbits and being a hair dresser.
On November 9, 1968, she married Melvin F. "Mel" Oberdalhoff, who passed away March 12, 1996.
Mrs. Oberdalhoff was a member of First Congregational Church in Highland, Illinois.
Survivors include Son-Donald E. (Marilyn) Nihiser of Highland, Ill., Son-Jack R. Nihiser of Alhambra, Ill., Daughter-Patricia "Pat" J. Riegel of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Jan N. (Fred) Schneider of Highland, Ill., Step-Son-Dick L. (Martha) Oberdalhoff of Chino Hills, Calif., Step-Daughter-Corky (Lowell) Hewlett of West Frankfort, Ill., Sister-Ruby Wilson of Highland, Ill., Also surviving are 7-Grandchildren, 5- Great Grandchildren, 9 -Step Grandchildren, 12- Step Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Husband-Melvin F. "Mel" Oberdalhoff, died 3/12/1996, Father-George M. Rich, Mother-Ellen Rich, nee Ginger, Daughter-In-Law-Karen J. Nihiser, died 10/27/07, Brother-Merle Rich, Brother-Floyd Rich, Former Husband-Louis Nihiser, Jr.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.Service InformationVisitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 21, 2008, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Friday, February 22, 2008. , at First Congregational Church, Highland, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 22, 2008, at First Congregational Church in Highland, IL., with Rev. Dr. Maurice R. Smith, Pastor,First Congregational Church
Highland, Illinois officiating.
Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra, Ill.
