Alice Walker
Alice Marie (Kantner) Walker, age 72, of Highland, IL., died Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL.
She was born January 3, 1935, in Highland, IL., the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Ackerman) Kantner.

Ms Walker attended Highland school. Following her marriage, she had lived in Granite City, IL and then Boston, Mass. After her divorce, she had done home care for families in Highland (Hill, Faires, Riggs & Cook families). She lived at the Edwardsville Shelter Care Home for over 20 years and then moved to Highland Health Care in the Fall of 2006.
Survivors include Sister-June E. Welchlen of Highland, Ill., Sister-in-law-Donna L. Kantner of Highland, Ill., Nephew-Joseph G. Welchlen of Pierron, Ill., Nephew-William E. "Bill" (Connie) Welchlen of Highland, Ill., Niece-Debbie J. Jakel of Bowling Green, Ky., Niece-Bonnie L. (Jerry) Schmitt, Niece-Berneida Elizabeth (Kevin) Ward of Saint Charles, Mo., Niece-Naomi F. Brown of Farmington, Mo., Former Husband-Arthur Walker (Marriage ended in divorce) of Highland, Ill.
She was preceeded in death by Father-George F. Kantner (DOD 02/23/1973), Mother-Elizabeth M. Kantner, nee Ackerman (DOD: 05/07/74), Brother-Wilbert "Red" Kantner (DOD: 02/14/79), Nephew-Robert W. "Bobby" Kantner
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.Service InformationFuneral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL., with Rev.Fr. David L. Peters officiating.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
