Floy E. Sybert
Floy Elvin Sybert, age 88, of Highland, IL., died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL.
He was born August 21, 1918, in Greenville, IL., the son of James and Arminta (Redfearn) Sybert.
On December 1, 1940, he married Gladys L. Sybert. nee Mueller, who survives.
Mr. Sybert grew up on a farm in Bond County near Greenville, IL. He farmed, worked for the Railroad, Pet Milk, and in the oil fields for T.T. Eason Corp in Madison & Clinton County. He carried hod for Jos. Becker Masonry Corp. for many years. Then worked as a general laborer until retiring. He and his wife bought, sold and restored antiques for years. They operated Sybert Antiques in Highland from the late 1970's to early 1980's.
He enjoyed reading, listening to Cardinals baseball and gardening. Work was his hobby.
He was also a member of Labor Local 680.
Survivors include Wife-Gladys L. Sybert. nee Mueller of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Audrey A. Brasel of Vernon Hills, Ill., Son-Ronald E. (Mary Jo) Sybert of Erlanger, Ky., Daughter-Laurie L. Sybert of Saint Louis, Mo., Grandchild-Jay A. (significant other Marcia Selig) Brasel of Chicago, Ill., Grandchild-Maj. Christopher R. (Jennifer) Sybert, US Army of Monterey, Calif., Grandchild-Nathan J. (Shauna) Sybert of Erlanger, Ky., Great Grandchild-Alexandria Selig-Brasel of Chicago, Ill., Great Grandchild-Aaron C. Sybert of Monterey, Calif., Great Grandchild-Jacob C. Sybert of Monterey, Calif., and Numerous Nieces & Nephews.
He was preceeded in death by Father-James Sybert, Mother-Arminta Sybert, nee Redfearn and Five Brothers and Four Sisters.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.Service InformationFuneral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Greenville, IL., with Chaplain Jonathan W. Hubbard, Heartland Hospice, Fairview Heights, IL officiating.
Interment will be at Mount Gilead Cemetery in Greenville, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Health Care Center - Activity Fund; Highland Animal Shelter; Evangelical United Church of Christ; or Faith Countryside Homes - Apt Activities Fund.
