Thomas J. Buchheim
Thomas Jerome Buchheim, age 78, of Highland, Ill., died Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, Ill.
He was the son of the late William Buchheim and the late Irene (Klaus) Buchheim.
Tom was born at Highland, grew up in Highland and graduated from St. Paul High School. He attended Summer Business College in E.St.Louis and McKendree College in Lebanon. He was a machinist for Basler Electric in Highland for over 30 years. In his youth he had been a Projector Boy at the Lory Theater in Highland. For over 40 years he served Helvetia Township, first as a Trustee and then as Township Supervisor. During his time in office, several bridges were built; a new township building was built in Highland, and he guided the Faith Countryside Center project through Community Development funds to provide a nutrition center for Highland. It was dedicated in 1983. Tom was a very dedicated Towhship Supervisor. He enjoyed time at his club house on Shoal Creek; trapshooting and fishing; he was a coin collector; enjoyed travelling throughout the US; going to rodeos; and spending time with his children and granddaughter.
Buchheim was employed by Basler Electric Company and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church-Highland. He was also a member of Highland Pistol & Rifle Club; Helvetia Sharpshooters Assoc.; Highland Sportmens'Club; Highland Jaycees;Madison County Township Officials; Woodmen of the World, Camp 105.
He is survived by his wife Mary L. Buchheim, nee Schilling; One Daughter, Dawn M. (Clinton "Shane") Oller of Highland, Ill. One Son, Larry A. Buchheim of Highland, Ill. Sister-In-Law-Helen Buchheim of Phoenix, Ariz. Two grandchildren Caitlin Oller and Gage Oller of Highland, IL.Service InformationArrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, 1501 Ninth at Lemon Street, Highland, Ill., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, February 4, 2007 and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM Monday, February 5, 2007. Funeral service will be at Saint Paul Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Monday, February 5, 2007 , Rev.Fr. David L. Peters, Pastor St. Paul Catholic Church
Highland, Illinois officiating.
Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
