Udell E. Conrad
Udell Ernest Conrad, age 89, of Alhambra, IL., died Friday, March 31, 2006, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born June 16, 1916, in Alhambra, IL., the son of Henry and Pauline (Siewert) Conrad.
On April 25, 1943, he married Dorothy E. Conrad, nee Glassmaker , who survives.
He was a member of United Church of Christ-Marine, IL.
He was also a member of Marine Masonic Lodge #355
Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Southern IL; Ainad Temple Silver Lake Shriner's Club; United Church of Christ Brotherhood.
Udell was born on the Conrad Farm in Alhambra Township. He attended Seibert School. As he grew up he helped on the family farm and later worked construction on IL Route 4. In April of 1941 a fellow by the name of Charles Holchur talked Udell into going to Anderson Airplane School in Los Angeles for two months. On December 8th, the day after Pearl Harbor, he got a job at McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis. In the 37 years working at McDonnell Aircraft he worked on many planes; 20a bomber, C47, XP67, Banshee, Phantom, F-15, and F-8 Harrier.
In 1948 their daughter was born and in 1952 a son was born. In 1958 they sold their home in Marine to buy a farm in Alhambra Township, just south of the family farm. There they raised hogs and cattle.

Boeger of Marine, Ill., Gr-Grandchild-Nathanial Straube of Alhambra, Ill., Sister-Velma (Harold) Grotefendt of Marine, Ill.
He was preceded in death by Father-Henry Conrad, Mother-Pauline Conrad, nee Siewert, Daughter-Diane M. Straube, died 06/27/2002, Brother-Delbert H. Conrad died 7/12/2002, Sister-Mildred Grotefentd died 2/2/1996, Sister-Irene Prott died 9/1/2005, Grandson In-Law-Brian Boege died 11/14/2004

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 3, 2006, at United Church of Christ of Marine in Marine, IL., with Rev. Philip H. Kershner officiating.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner\'s Hospital or
United Church of Christ of Marine.
