Donald O. Lyerla

Donald Ormand Lyerla, age 71, of Saint Jacob Ill., died Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, Ill.

He was born October 21, 1933, in Hillsboro, Ill., the son of Eldred and Deon (nee Redman) Lyerla. On July 15, 1963, he married Margaret A. Murphy in Collinsville, Ill., who survives.

Mr. Lyerla grew up in Central Illinois. He served with the US Army from 1955 to 1957 with duty in Washington state and Nevada. He worked for Local 309 of the IBEW in Collinsville, Ill., for over 35 years driving trucks and heavy equipment. He retired in 1995 at age 62. Mr. & Mrs. Lyerla had been married for over 42 years. They moved to Saint Jacob, Ill., in 1965. He had enjoyed operating radio-controlled miniature boats, being a "Mountain Man" at various Rendezvous in the area, and Bar-B-Q'ing for his family.

He was a member of the IBEW, Local 309 in Collinsville, Ill.

Survivors also include a Daughter-Deona F. (John) Hasty of Troy, Ill., Grandchild-Jarad E. Hasty of Troy, Ill., Grandchild-Trevor C. Hasty of Troy, Ill., Brother-Norman E. (Patricia) Lyerla of Saint Jacob, Ill., and a Sister-Dixie D. (Ralph) Buchen of Clearwater, Fla.

He was preceeded in death by his parents.
