Glenn A. Meffert
Glenn A. Meffert, age 89 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center in Highland, IL.
He was born June 01, 1923, in Pocahontas, IL, the son of Arthur and Ella M. (nee Schrumpf) Meffert.
On October 28, 1948, he married Ruth Alice Miener who survivesin Highland.
He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. He was also a member of Highland Masonic Lodge #583 A.F. & A.M.; Helvetia Sharpshooter Society; 4-H Leader; Volunteered w/ Boy Scouts; Faith Countryside Homes Founding Member, Serving 3 terms (almost 20 years); at age 27 past board member of the Madison Service Company-serving 10 years; Madison County Farm Bureau; Life Underwriters Association; Highland Rotary Club..
He was raised on the family farm NW of Pocahontas, IL in Leef Township. He and his wife continued to operate the grain and dairy farm until 1960 . He started with Country Companies Insurance in 1961 and retired in 1989. He sold real estate starting in 1990 until 2004 with Holzinger Reality Co. that later became Coldwell Banker Agency, Highland, IL. He enjoyed fishing; was a tremendous gardener; community volunteer (helping friends and neighbors, many many years w/ his church & Faith Countryside Homes. ) He was in the top 20 of 1400 agents w/ Country Companies Insurance.At age 27, he became a board member of Madison Service Company and served for 10 years.He and his wife traveled to Europe, Hawaii and all over the USA. He was a fantastic father who was always there for his family.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.Service InformationVisitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitationwill continue from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, with Rev. Christopher W. Hill officiating.
Interment will be at Grantfork U.C.C. Cemetery in Grantfork, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ; Faith Countryside Homes; or Grantfork United Church of Christ.
