Stephen J. Carey

Stephen J. Carey, age 60 of Alhambra, IL, died Monday, August 22, 2011, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJC) in Saint Louis, MO.

He was born on Tuesday, June 12, 1951, in Bloomington, IL, the son of Francis and Marian (nee Wislon) Carey.

On Sunday, November 01, 1987, he married Lisa Ann Carey nee Smith who survives.

He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church.

Born at Bloomington, IL, grew up at Cairo, IL. Graduated from SIU Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science Degree. Served in the US Army. In 1987 he began working for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), in Chicago, New Orleans and St. Louis in 1993. He was a fresh fruit and vegetable inspector. He was the superentendent of poultry for the Madison County Fair. He loved livestock and working in the yard.

Daughter - Ashley E. Carey, Crossville, IL
Son - Adam S. Carey, Saint Louis, MO
Daughter - Angela C. Carey, Alhambra, IL
Daughter - Stephanie L. (David) Smit, Peoria, IL
Grandchild - Gabrielle R. Smit, Peoria, IL
Grandchild - Emma K. Smit, Peoria, IL
Grandchild - Levi D. Smit, Peoria, IL.

He was preceded in death by:
Father - Francis Dewitt Carey
Mother - Marian Frances Carey (nee Wilson).

Service Information

Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL .

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL., with Father Carlos M. Bohorquez, Pastor, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marine, IL officiating.

Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Education Foundation.
