Marvene S. Grotefendt
Marvene S. Grotefendt nee Schneider, age 83 of Marine, IL, died Monday, November 22, 2010, at her residence in rural Marine, IL.
She was born on May 24, 1927, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Harry and Lena (nee Landert) Schneider.
On June 22, 1957, she married Glenn M. Grotefendt who survives.
She was a member of United Church of Christ of Marine. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star-Unity Chapter #608 Marine, IL; Marine UCC Women's Guild; Madison County Assoc. for Home & Community; Book Lovers Club of UCC of Marine; Widening the Circle Prayer Group at UCC of Marine.
Marvene was a Highland High School graduate in 1945. She was currently working part time, for the Madison County Farm Bureau as a Membership Secretary where she has been employed since 1991. She had previously been a secretary for the University of IL Extension Service and was also an Assistant Cashier at the First National Bank of Highland. She is extremely active in her church and enjoyed traveling throughout the US, reading, cooking, Illini Basketball, and Cardinal Baseball. Her special companion is her cat "Cutie".

Mother - Lena Schneider nee Landert
Son - Gary G. Grotefendt (died 6/7/1983)
Sister - Valista L. Hug (died 10/12/2010)
Brother - Benton W. Schneider (died 1/12/1991)
Brother - Raymond J. Schneider (died 8/5/1994)
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.Service InformationVisitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, November 26, 2010, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday at Marine United Church of Christ in Marine, IL.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Marine United Church of Christ in Marine, IL, with Rev. Philip H. Kershner officiating.
Interment will be at Marine Cemetery in Marine, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Church of Christ of Marine or to Hoyleton Children\'s Home.
