Delores Kathleen Monken(nee Isert), age 87 of Summerfield, IL, died Monday, August 23, 2010, at Faith Care Center/Faith Countryside Homes in Highland, IL.
She was born on Thursday, April 12, 1923, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Oscar D. and Birdie (nee Tschannen) Isert.
On Sunday, May 02, 1943, she married Ralph O. Monken who passed away on January 24, 1986.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Summerfield, IL. She was also a member of Secretary & Treasurer of church council;VFW Ladies Auxiliary #7983, Trenton, IL;Lions Club, Summerfield, IL; Summerfield Cemetery Assoc., Treasurer; former member Lebanon Senior Citizens.
Born on a farm north of Highland, IL. Graduated from Highland High School in 1941. Following marriage lived at Summerfield and operated Monken's IGA Market, until 1972. In retirement she worked at Smitty's in Lebanon and Rohling Market in Trenton. Started working for the US Post Office in Summerfield and retired in 1993. She enjoyed Pinochle and Euchre card clubs.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.Service InformationVisitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 26, 2010, at St. John United Church of Christ in Summerfield, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Friday, at St. John United Church of Christ in Summerfield, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 27, 2010, at St. John United Church of Christ in Summerfield, IL, with Rev. Gary Kniepkamp, Pastor, St. John UCC, officiating.
Interment will be at Summerfield Cemetery in Summerfield, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; Faith Countryside Homes or St. John UCC.
