John P. Farabee II
John Perry Farabee II, age 65 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJC) in Saint Louis, MO.
He was born on Saturday, May 19, 1945, in Saint Louis, MO, the son of John and Marie (nee Voss) Farabee.
On Saturday, May 05, 1984, he married Patricia A.Farabee (nee Lorenz) who survives.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Highland, IL.
Born near the "Dogtown " area of St. Louis, graduate of Southwest High School (1964); Harris Teachers College (BS-1968); U. of Missouri-St.Louis (MSEd 1970); Central Missouri State Univ. (MS in Technology-1973), "Jack" taught at Meramec School; Peabody School and McKinley High School, retiring from teaching after 12 years. He opened Ryan's Market at Shenandoah & Thurman and operated it from 1980-90. He also rehabed houses in the Shaw neighborhood from 1970-80 where he had over 100 units at one time.Following his marriage, he worked in real estate sales for several years and then purchased the Forest Lakes Resort east of Staunton, IL. He operated the campground and RV Resort from 1990-98. In his retirement, he and his wife wintered at Hilton Head Island, SC and in Florida. They traveled to Brazil, Mexico, Canada, throughout the USA, cruised to Alaska & the USA east coast, and spent time in the Caribbean. In his earlier years, "Jack" was a hunter and fisherman. He raised Great Danes and showed them. He and his wife enjoyed riding their Goldwing Motorcycle. He was an avid tool collector and was never stumped when shown a unique tool.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.Service InformationVisitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, August 27, 2010, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, at First Baptist Church in Highland, IL.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Highland, IL, with Dr. Adrian Lamkin, Interim Pastor, First Baptist Church in Highland, IL officiating.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
