Eugene E. Stabenow
Eugene E. Stabenow, age 77, of Marine, IL., died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Saint Luke's Hospital-West in Chesterfield, MO.
He was born April 30, 1933, in Ferguson, MO., the son of Lawrence and Grace (nee McKee) Stabenow.
On May 10, 1958, he married Agnes M. Stabenow nee Oefelein, who survives.
He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church-Troy, IL; IBEW Local #1-St. Louis.
Mr. Stabenow was born in North Saint Louis County - Ferguson, MO. He grew up there and graduated from Ferguson High School. From age 7 until after high school, he had worked on a local dairy farm. He worked for Roundtree Electric after high school and then entered the US Army with duty from 5/4/53-5/4/55. Returning to his home, he worked as an Electrician for Local #1 until retiring in 1995. He had worked for Beach Electric and retired from Sach's Electric. He purchased a grain and beef farm in rural Marine, IL in 1974 and moved his family there in 1977. The past years have been spent developing the Outback Trails subdivision between Highland and Marine, IL.
Gene was a 7 year cancer survivor who provided inspiration to other cancer patients and often participated in support groups. He enjoyed trout fishing; spending time with family and friends, and nurturing animals on the farm.

(Dan) Hill-Burghoff of St. Louis, Mo., Nick Farace of St. Charles, Mo., Jessica Farace of St. Charles, Mo., Brad Harnetiaux of Greenville, Ill., Stephanie M. Stabenow of Califon, N.J., Malorie L. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Saint Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL, and from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 21, 2010. , at Saint Jerome Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Saint Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL., with Father Pat Jakel, Pastor, St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL, officiating.
Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
