John J. Frisse, Jr.

John J. Frisse, Jr., age 90, of Highland, IL., died Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL.

He was born February 10, 1920, in Marine, IL., the son of John and Mary (nee Walsh) Frisse.

On January 17, 1945, he married Dorothy M. Strasen, she died October 4, 1972; later married Anna Mae Kruep, nee Hegger, who survives.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church-Highland, IL; Former member of Holy Name Society; Helvetia Sharpshooters Society.

John was born Northeast of Marine on the family farm in Marine Township. He attended Case, Cypress Station and St. Paul School. John worked as a farm hand and joined the US Army from 1946-1947 with duty in Korea. John worked at Highland Box Board, Herbst's Service Station. He owned and operated DX Station in Highland, and later worked at Ed's Standard Station as a mechanic. He retired in 1983. Worked part-time at 1st National Bank in Highland, tended bar at Helvetia Sharp Shooters Club, and did small engine repairs. He enjoyed traveling to visit his family and reading books.

Survivors include Wife-Anna Mae Kruep-Frisse, nee Hegger of Highland, Ill., three Sons-Gary M. (Annie) Frisse of Otterville, Mo., Thomas (Elizabeth "Betsy") Frisse of Highland, Ill., and -Kenneth L. Frisse of Pierron, Ill., Step Children-Veronica J. (Alan) Johnson of Dowling, Mich., Linda M. Shaffer of O Fallon, Ill., Dorothy J. (Herb) Durbin Jr. of Highland, Ill., Anna M. Sharp of Battle Creek, Mich., Christine J. (Fred) Sharp of Madison, Ala., Nanette A. (Terry) Snyder of Villa Grove, Ill., Alan C. (Elaine) Kruep of Highland, Ill., James L. Kruep of Huntsville, Ala., Carla S. (Ed) Schott of New Athens, Ill., Charles E. (Carol) Kruep of Okawville, Ill., Grandchild-Chris (Donna) Frisse, Grandchildren-Michael Frisse, Courtney M. Bitticks, 22 Step Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren-Christoper Frisse, Gabriel Frisse, John Britticks, Alyssa Britticks, 28 Step Great Grandchildren, Many Niece & Nephews, two Brothers-Edwin (Elaine) Frisse of Highland, Ill., and Norbert (Joann) Frisse of Edwardsville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his Father-John J. Frisse Sr., Mother-Mary --- Frisse nee Walsh, First Wife-Dorothy M. Frisse nee Strasen died 10/4/1972, Grandchild-Jennifer Brannen, Brother-Alvin Frisse, Sister-Margaret Hellrung, and Sister-Dorothy Schmidt

Service Information

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM Monday, March 1, 2010. , at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 1, 2010, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Fr. Aloysius Ndeanaefo, Parochial Vicar, St. Paul Catholic Church,
Highland, IL, officiating.

Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, Ill.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul School; St. Paul Church; Hospice of S. IL; or Masses.
