Donald M. Bircher
Donald M. "Donnie" Bircher, age 65, of Highland, IL., died Sunday, October 18, 2009, at his residence in Highland, IL.
He was born May 30, 1944, in Highland, IL., the son of Monroe and Eleanor (Wiese) Bircher.
On July 4, 1969, he married Jane F Bircher nee Buchmiller , who survives.
Don was born at Highland; grew up on the family farm southeast of town; and graduated from Highland High School in 1962. While in high school he excelled in football, wrestling and was in FFA. He served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1966. After the service he worked on the family farm, for Alton Box Co., at Basler Electric, drove for Kustermann Trucking; purchased and operated a mobile feed grinding & suppliment business; and purchased a farm with his brother in 1971. He has also worked for Bill Ambuehl farms.
He started to work for Truck Centers in 1981 and retired from there in December 2006 because of poor health. He helped organize and coached for the Highland Quarterback Club for many years. Anything that had wheels and motors he would repair/work-on. Don enjoyed participating and watching football; following baseball; fishing; and collecting guns and knives. His life was his children and grandchildren.

(Jeffrey) Alldredge of Edwardsville, Ill., Daughter-Andrea L. (Jason) Glasson of Cape Coral, Fla., Brother-Richard L. "Dick" (Janis) Bircher of Highland, Ill., Sister-Linda (Allen) Blue of Scottsdale, Ariz., Brother In-law-James N. Cagle of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Alyssa R. Bircher of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Brayden A. Bircher of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Jordan L. Bircher of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Addison C. Alldredge of Edwardsville, Ill., Step Grandchild-Brock A. Alldredge of Decatur, Ill., Step Grandchild-Taylor S. Alldredge of Highland, Ill.
He was preceded in death by Father-Monroe J. Bircher died 1960, Sister-Karen L. Cagle, died 08/05/2009

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL., with Rev. Philip H. Kershner, Pastor of Marine United Church of Christ Marine, IL officiating.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
