William O. "Bill" McCaw, Jr.
William Otto McCaw, Jr., age 58, of Highland, IL., died Monday, August 17, 2009, at Kaskaskia River at River Road in New Memphis, IL.
He was born August 13, 1951, in Highland, IL., the son of William and Eileen (Zbinden) McCaw.
On October 3, 1987, he married Nancy A. McCaw nee Bastilla, who survives.
Bill was born and grew up in Highland and graduated Highland High School in 1969. He worked at some gas stations for a while then worked at Bennie Koch's Garage. Later he worked for EF Trucking, in 1990 worked for Head Line Express, in 1993 went to Kelcor Trucking where he drove local routes in the evenings.
Bill loved to play music. He started playing the fiddle at age 15 and played with his father and Jeannie Popkess as "The Two of Us". He also played with Ruth Marty annually on Labor Day in New Glarus, WI.
He loved hunting, fishing, cooking, making wine and beer, and spending time with his family and cousins Cliff and Ronnie Zbinden, Mike Renspurger, and good friends Mark Riebold and Bill Braswell, on the Kaskaskia River at the Club House.
Survivors include Wife-Nancy A. McCaw nee Bastilla of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Amanda C. (Paul) Schulz of Collinsville, Ill., Son-Robert O. (Special Friend Carla A. Hoedebecke) McCaw of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Blake A. McCaw of Highland, Ill., Sister-Hedy (Leroy) Hock of Millersburg, Ill., Mother-In-Law-Shirley J. Bastilla, nee Hug of Highland, Ill., Brother-James C. (Evelyn "Marie") McCaw of Highland, Ill., Maternal Grandmother-In-Law-Della R. Hug nee Beinecke, Cousins-Numerous, Nieces & Nephews-Many .
He was preceeded in death by Father-William O. McCaw Sr. died 12/21/1973, Mother-Eileen V. McCaw nee Zbinden died 3/12/1997, Father-In-Law-Robert F. Bastilla, Maternal Grandfather-In-Law-Waldo E. Hug
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.Service InformationVisitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, August 21, 2009, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 21, 2009, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL., with Rev. Leonard Pye, Pastor and Rev. Polly McWilliams officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, Meals on Wheels or to the Family.
