Genevieve M. "Jenny" Frey
Genevieve M. Frey (nee Sander), age 73, of Highland, IL., died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL.
She was born January 29, 1936, in Alhambra, IL., the daughter of Arthur and Martha (nee Renken) Sander.
On May 19, 1956, she married Gerald E. "Jerry" Frey , who survives.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; Saint Anne Altar Society of the church.
Mrs. Frey was born on the family farm between Hamel & Alhambra, IL; she grew there; attended Hoxsey Country School; and graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1954. She worked as a bookkeeper until 1957. She then raised her family. Mrs. Frey and her husband moved from Pierron, IL to their farm home on January 1st, 1960. She always enjoyed watching the cattle out in their pasture. She and her husband sold their home in August of 1999 and moved into the Faith Countryside Homes Retirement Village. Mrs. Frey had been a member of a Bunco Club for over 36 years; she also enjoyed bowling, reading, being with her grandchildren and was a very, very, good bookkeeper.
Survivors include Husband-Gerald E. "Jerry" Frey of Highland, Ill., Son-Gary J. (Tracy) Frey of Highland, Ill., Son-Kenny N. (Kathie) Frey of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Cheryl A. (Mike) Bates of Harleysville, Pa., Daughter-Patricia E. "Patty" (Jeffrey) Mitchell of Greenville, Ill., Daughter-Janean R. (Vincent) Zappia of Highland, Ill., Grandchildren-Holly A. (Alex) Nazetta, Jennifer L. (fiance Doug Spitzer) Mitchell, Tara R. Frey, Megan L. Frey, Ashlynn N. Frey, Kolby J. Frey, Brittany N. Zappia, Drake A. Zappia, Cody Bates, Wyatt Bates, Kaitlynn Bates, Brother-Orville A. (Jean) Sander of Highland, Ill.
She was preceeded in death by Father-Arthur E. Sander, Mother-Martha S. (nee Renken) Sander, Daughter-Kathleen C. Frey (age 2 months, 1962)Service InformationArrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, July 31, 2009, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, IL
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at St.Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Rev. Fr. Charles A. Edwards, Pastor, St. Paul Catholic Church,
Highland, IL, officiating.
Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
